Major Injury Accident w/ double entrapment

Sussex Rescue Box 74-8, Major Injury Accident with double entrapment, northbound Sussex Highway. Delmar, Laurel, SCEMS and Maryland Trooper 4 were dispatched for a serious MVC with entrapment on Sussex Highway north of Thornton Blvd. Units found a serious 3 vehicle collision, with 2 critical patients trapped in 2 of the vehicles. Firefighters from Delmar Rescue 74 and Laurel Tower 81 worked expediently to extricate both priority-1 patients.

Maryland State Police Trooper 4 was unable to be utilized due to weather.

Delmar Paramedics A, B and C-74 along with Laurel/SCEMS Medic B-81 each transported to Peninsula Regional.

Northbound Sussex Highway remained closed for an extended length of time. The scene was turned over to Delaware State Police and DELDOT.
