Working House Fire - Delmar Md.
September 21, 2009 - In the early morning hours of 9-21-09 Sta.74 Delmar along with Sta.5 Hebron & Sta.2 Salisbury were alerted for a working structure fire at 203 E Elizabeth St in Delmar. 74 Command (J Morris Jr.) arrived to find heavy fire coming from the 2nd floor.

Engine 74-2 arrived led by FF Rob Thompson quickly put two hand lines in service. Firefighter Jason Morris used a Halagon Bar to force open the front door. Firefighters Buck Jones and Tyler Thompson advanced a 1 ¾ hose thru the front door and encountered heavy fire conditions.

Command requested additional crews from Sta.6 Parsonsburg & Sta.81 Laurel to the scene.

Truck 2 from Salisbury backed down North 2nd street and into an adjacent yard to gain access to the roof area. Crews from Hebron and Salisbury cut several ventilation holes on the roof.

Crews from Laurel & Parsonsburg helped contain the fire and cleanup.

Sta.14 Sharptown responded to Sta.74 and filled in as a stand by crew/engine.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal Office was on scene investigating the cause of the fire. The home is a total loss.
