 MVC W/ ROLLOVER - RT. 13 DELMAR

April 27, 2010 - At approx. 11:50 AM, Wicomico Central alerted Station 74 Delmar of a MVC with injuries with rollover on Rt. 13 in the area of Barr Freightliner. . It was reported that the car rolled several times. Crews arrived to find a car in a ditch with one occupant. Delmar EMS transported one patient to PRMC. One lane of Rt. 13 was shut down durning the duration of the incident and removal of the car.

April 26, 2010 - At 9:35pm Sussex County EOC received reports of a house explosion at 31332 Dogwood Lane in Laurel. Crews from Laurel (Station 81), Delmar (Station 74), and Sharptown (Station 14), Blades (Station 71), Sussex County Rescue Team and Sussex County Paramedics were on scene. Police officers from Laurel Police and DSP, along with a team from the Delaware State Fire Marshall's office responded.

Crews arrived to find a double-wide mobile home rocked off its foundation and a majority of it collapsed. Debris was strewn for quite a distance. It is believed that a family of 5, 3 children and 2 adults, was in the house at the time, 4 escaped, and a 26 year old male was trapped for an extended period. The extent of the injuries to the victims is not known at this time.

There was propane service at the house, however there was no immediate indication of fire, nor was the storage tank ruptured. The State Fire Marshall's office is expected to have an invesitgation team on location well past midnight.

December 21, 2009 - At 3:34pm Station 74 (Delmar) was alerted to a reported house fire in the 11,000 block of Line Rd. En route, they were advised that an explosion had occured on scene. Crews arrived to find a oil-fired boiler had exploded. The explosion occurred in utility closet adjacent to the house in a semi-enlosed porch. The explosion ripped the door off the closet, sent debris into the kitchen and porch, and damaged the electric panel. Two walls were shifted off the foundation, and command requested additional resources to evaluate. The Delaware State Technical Rescue Team and State Fire Marshal's Office were alerted. Delmarva Power was alerted to cut power to the house. The home owners were required to vacate the house until suitable repairs are made and the home has a functioning heating system. A damage estimate is not available at this time.

 Assist Salisbury with HazMat at Dress Barn

November 28, 2009 - Around 12:30 PM Wicomico Central alerted Salisbury Station 2 of a possible Haz-Mat incident at the Dress Barn, Assistant Chief 1, along with Engine 2, and Paramedic 2 responded. At the time of the alert, one patient was experiencing headaches, The Dress Barn was advised to evacuate, and another ambulance was requested, Paramedic 1 responded. Upon arrival and investigation, an unknown liquid substance was found. At that time command requested a Haz-Mat Response. Emergency Management, Station 74 Delmar and Station 16 Salisbury were alerted to assist. Station 74 responded with the Haz-Mat Decon Trailer, Engine Tanker 74, Rescue 74 and Paramedic 74, while Station 16 responded with Engine 16, Haz-Mat 1, and Paramedic 16. During the investigation of the substance, it was determined that the substance was coming from the wall between The Dress Barn and Target. Investigators then entered target and discovered that the substance was within the wall and as a precaution, Target was evacuated. After crews were able to test the substance, it was determined to not be harmful, and at approximately 14:00 Target and The Dress Barn were able to re-open.

August 20, 2009 - On August 20, 2009 at approximately 1422 a mvc was reported single vehicle rollover. Upon arrival of ems PM 74 a van was found on its top. The patients were out of the vehicle. They were transported pri 3. Upon arrival of Deputy Chief Morris and Rescue 74 gas was found leaking. Command was established and the next piece in was Engine 3 where a hose line deployment was ordered. Traffic control was maintained by the department fire police.
