Trash Truck Fire - Delmar Commons Shopping Center
Tuesday, August 21, 2012

Around 08:30 hours, Sussex alerted Station 74 for a vehicle fire near McDonald's in the Delmar Commons Shopping Center. Engine 74-3, and 74-2 responded. The vehicle was a trash truck, and had pushed its load onto an empty parking lot behind Sleepy's in the same shopping center. Past Chief (S. Johnson) established command and 74-3 put a hand line in service to extinguish the smoldering cardboard. The town was called, and they brought a backhoe to move the pile around to make sure the fire was completely out. Scene was under control in about 30 minutes. On scene: 74-3, 74-2, and A-74.
